We’ve always been committed to sustainability. All our packaging – containers, cups, straws, and utensils – is made of plants and entirely compostable. What we can’t compost, we recycle, including glass, plastic, cardboard, and even our used oil.

Regardless of cost, we do not use petroleum-based packaging. By choosing compostable materials, we’re creating a new normal that’s better for ourselves and the world we live in. Now we’re thinking even further ahead.

Reduce + Reuse by bringing in your own cup

Composting and recycling are kind of our thing — let’s take it a little further. Now we want to encourage our customers, peers and families to reconsider their relationship to recycling and single-use items. Composting and recycling are responsible ways to dispose of our waste, but what if we never made that waste in the first place? Let’s cut down on disposables by opting for reusables instead.

This fall, bring a reusable cup to any of our HipCityVeg locations and we’ll double the good for you; for every reusable cup you use for a HipCityVeg drink, we’ll make a contribution to our new community partner, Common Good City Farm. You get a delicious drink in your favorite cup, a fabulous organization gets a little help, and the Earth swallows one fewer disposable item — everybody wins!

Supporting Sustainable Communities & Agriculture

We are thrilled to have the opportunity to support Common Good City Farm and its positive impact on the community, from toddlers through adults. With the opening of our Dupont location back in August, we announced our commitment to raise and donate at least $10,000 our new Washington DC community non-profit partner by the end of 2020, and we can’t wait to follow through.

We decided to partner with Common Good City Farm, one of DC’s most impactful plant-based food focused non-profits, because of its mission to create a vibrant, informed, and well-nourished community through urban farming. The non-profit also focuses on serving a multi-cultural, multi-racial, and multi-generational community and its diverse programs create an opportunity for people from all walks of life to spend time learning about healthy food and participating in the growing process. It was also important to our fearless leader, Nicole Marquis, to partner with an organization that has strong female leadership, to reflect her company’s values and heritage.

“We were extraordinarily impressed by the organization’s programs, leadership and mission and are looking forward to a long and fruitful relationship. Together, we can make plant-based eating easier and more accessible for everyone.” – Nicole Marquis

Along with the money donated through our bring-your-own-cup initiative, HipCityVeg will raise money for Common Good City Farm by donating a portion of sales on designated days, selling co-branded totes, and a sizable corporate donation. We will also hold team volunteer days at Common Good City Farm and support the farm’s events with food from the restaurant, as part of this partnership.

Make sure to check back often and follow us on Instagram to see how the farm is doing!
